Plastic Waste Management Institute (PWMI) was founded in 1971 by cooperation of all of Japanese plastic resin manufacturers. PWMI’s mission is “surveying and researching the recycling and recovery of plastic waste and contributing to a reduction in environmental load through the life cycle of plastic, and contributing to the creation of a society capable of sustainable growth.”

Currently PWMI is focusing its efforts in the following core activities;;

Survey and research the generation, recycling, recovery and disposal of plastic waste
Support the education and study of plastic and plastic recycling
Interface and collaborate with domestic and foreign plastic related institutions
